One of the most common misconceptions about life coaching is that it is therapy in disguise — or, worse yet, therapy from an unlicensed practitioner. In reality, life coaching is truly its own unique service designed to help the recipient achieve success and fulfillment in any and all areas of life.
The idea behind therapy is to focus on past traumas and issues to change self-destructive habits, repair and improve relationships and work through painful feelings. In this sense, therapy focuses on the past and on introspection and analysis, with the hope of resolving past issues and creating a happier, more stable future.
The difference between a life coach and therapist is that a life coach sets clients up with short & long term solutions for positive growth. Through life coaching, a client works with a coach in order to clarify goals and identify obstacles and problematic behaviors and then create action plans to achieve desired results. The process of life coaching takes the client’s current starting point as an acceptable neutral ground and is more action-based from that point onward. A life coach enables the recipient to take control of their life and take action to steer it toward their goals.
I work with open-minded parents and teens who are willing to learn and apply strategies to create a deeper understanding of who they are and adjust how they are showing up in their lives. I believe everyone has the right to feel truly seen, heard and understood. If those are your goals let’s chat and see if we are a good fit.

Our program allows all parties to participate and learn the basic foundational steps, strategies, get support, create goals and set intentions for a comprehensive coaching experience. There are opportunities for all participants to attend meetings and provide answers and clarity in a non-judgmental, confidential and positive environment.
The Discovery Session prior to starting coaching is intended to determine if this is a good fit.
The Discovery Meeting: This consists of a short phone call with the responsible party to answer all of your logistical questions, get on the same page as far as the expected coaching experience and learn more about the program before we start the first session.
When working with teens I encourage parental input and participation so that all family members can benefit from learning the skills necessary to create mutual understanding and open lines of communication. However, it is very common for parents to let their kids meet 1:1 with the coach so they feel comfortable opening up and sharing with a non-biased, supportive third party. For most parents, having their child feel they have positive, caring, professional support is their number one priority.
SELF Empowerment, SELF Reliance, SELF Esteem, SELF Confidence – when it comes to personal growth, we believe we must ALWAYS start with SELF. But, SELF is not just the person in the mirror…it is your CORE SELF, the person you were born to be, that you used to be, that you want to get back to so that you can live the life YOU want to live. When you rediscover and build your CORE SELF you gain control and confidence necessary to live authentically. This sense of identity requires focus and purposeful attention which allow you to thrive. Are you ready to meet yourSELF?
The mental health of our teenagers and young adults is our priority and we know too well how delaying help can lead to eating disorders, substance abuse, and even loss of life. We aim to provide immediate support to those who feel they need it, regardless of their situation. If you or someone you know needs this type of support, but are limited by financial resources to pay for it, please fill out our scholarship application.
